This layout is very closely modelled on a plan I placed here a few months ago (that had a lot more turnouts). This is an out & back with the benefit of a passing station, with fewer freight facilities, but a continuous loop on the lower level.
 
As I ran out of points for a run around this should be regarded as a modern layout using DMUs, Intercity 125 & Voyager type trains.
