If containerised freight is your thing, you could combine one of the Lima container cranes with Bachmann intermodal wagons on this layout. A run round loop allows the loco to run around the wagons, while a shunter waits to sort the wagons (running most effectively using DCC). The main running line represents the Liverpool - Manchester route, with 150s, 156s and 142s running alongside. The lower part of the board could even incorporate a station or more storage sidings if the budget stretches.
