6x4 Triangle

Minimum radius = 1st radius

Although this plan will involve some additional wiring, the triangle at the heart of the design is commonplace in many North American model railways. The basic principle is that the track on the centre left of the triangle (point A) must have switchable polarity, meaning that a break in the rails is required at each ‘X’. Trains can then be reversed into and out of the section with practiced control of the speed regulator, and the complex shunting manoeuvres allowed by this arrangement make the additional wiring worthwhile. Scenic work could follow the design of an industrial complex, similar to Trafford Park, or any number of dockside railways around the UK.
