This dual end-to-end design allows the operator to simulate the running of a branch line, either in a rural location or even a preserved railway. If running the layout prototypically, DMUs (or even short HST sets) could run between the two stations, using both the inner and outer loops. Freight facilities are provided both in the centre of the inner loop and on the upper part of the board – a cement terminal or coal loading facility could be installed on this section.
